Working Together to Improve School Attendance
National expectations on support, partnership, early intervention and shared responsibility.
OPEN DFE GUIDANCE ↗
Tutor SEND & EBSA TrainingTwo practical hours that help tutors understand SEND and emotionally based school avoidance, recognise distress early, make thoughtful adjustments and connect pupils with coordinated support.
Tutors are not expected to diagnose SEND, anxiety or EBSA. They are uniquely placed to notice change, reduce avoidable stress, listen safely, implement agreed adjustments and ensure concerns reach the SEND, attendance, pastoral or safeguarding team.
Every resource downloads as an editable Word document. Adapt it with your SENCO and attendance, safeguarding and pastoral leads before use.
This foundational programme draws on statutory guidance, government policy and specialist local-authority educational psychology resources. These links support further professional learning; local procedures and individual professional advice still apply.
